Nike After Dark Tour · Shanghai 2026
Saturday 2026-04-25, 21:00 start on the Bund. 10K women-only night race, 22:30 cutoff, finish at 689 Jumen Rd with an afterparty. First of seven 2026 After Dark Tour stops globally and the second Shanghai edition since Nike brought the series back in 2025.
Cheering a night race plays differently from a daytime marathon. The Bund starts closing in stages at 19:00, with ten rolling road-closure windows stretching south to Miaojiang Rd until 22:30. Light is low, your odds of spotting one runner in a crowd drop sharply after dark, and moving between cheer spots needs to be replanned. Last-metro risk is usually overstated — race night is a Saturday, so Shanghai Metro lines 1/7/8/9/10/13 run their weekend-extended schedule, with last trains through the core area actually departing between 23:00 and 23:35 — so a runner finishing at 5:30/km (21:55) has plenty of slack for the afterparty and an unhurried walk to the station. The real problem is timing the spots, picking the right vantage, and leaving yourself a buffer to exit. This guide walks through course → pace → closures → last metro → one real cheering path.

Where to stand.
4K Official Cheering Zone
First official Cheering Zone at Dongjiadu Ferry on the South Bund; runners are still fresh but glad to see supporters. Medical + water station here.
9K Official Cheering Zone
Second official Cheering Zone at Miaojiang Rd 801 on the Expo riverside — runners are fatiguing, cheering has high impact. Route heads toward finish.

20:30Leave home, Line 2 to Nanjing East RdArrive 30 minutes before the runner's start so closures around the start zone don't block your station exit. Nanjing East Rd is served by Lines 2 and 10.
-
20:55Walk to the 4K Cheering ZoneAbout 15 minutes south from Nanjing East Rd station along Nanjing East toward the Bund. Closures have started by now, but pedestrian access is unaffected.
-
21:22Runner passes 4K — cheer + photo5:30/km pace puts her at 4K around 21:22. Stay 5–8 minutes, confirm she looks okay, shoot two vertical videos to edit later.
-
21:30Leave 4K → Yuyuan → Laoximen → Xizang SouthWalk back to Yuyuan station (~8-10 min). The correct path is Yuyuan → Laoximen on Line 10 (1 stop), then in-station transfer to Line 8 → Lujiabang Rd → Xizang South (2 more stops). Three stops, one transfer, about 20-22 minutes total.
-
22:00Arrive Xizang South + walk to finishShe's expected to finish around 21:55; you'll exit the metro around 22:00 and take an 8-minute walk to the finish. You won't catch the crossing moment itself, but you can meet up at the afterparty entrance. Agree on a specific landmark ("next to the tallest Nike prop at the afterparty gate") before the race so you don't lose each other.
-
22:30Leave for homePlan 20-25 min at the afterparty. Head back to Xizang South by 22:30; you'll reach the station ~22:38. With weekend-extended service, Line 4 toward Yishan Rd departs ~23:17 (39-min buffer) and Line 8 departs ~23:02 (24-min buffer) — both very comfortable. Line 4 toward Shanghai Railway (~22:48) only leaves a 10-min buffer — take a different direction or rideshare. If your runner finishes near the cutoff and you want to skip the metro, search 689 Jumen Rd in Didi.
Don't miss the last train.
Race night is a Saturday — Shanghai Metro lines 1/7/8/9/10/13 run their weekend-extended schedule, so last trains depart later than on weekdays. The nearest stations to the finish at 689 Jumen Rd are Xizang South Rd (Lines 4/8) and Dapuqiao (Line 9). Official last-train timings (verified 2026-04-22 via Shanghai Metro's official timetable portal):
- Xizang South Rd (Line 4): toward Shanghai Railway Stn ~22:48 / toward Yishan Rd ~23:17. 8-minute walk from the finish.
- Xizang South Rd (Line 8): last train ~23:02-23:03 (both directions almost identical).
- Dapuqiao (Line 9): toward Songjiang South ~23:12 / toward Caolu ~23:33. 12-minute walk from the finish.
- Laoximen (Lines 8/10): Line 8 ~23:02-23:03; Line 10 toward Jilong Rd ~22:59 / toward Hongqiao Railway ~23:14. Fallback only — no longer directly serves 9K (moved south to Miaojiang Rd 801); use Xizang South (~13 min) instead.
- Yuyuan (Line 10): toward Jilong Rd ~23:02 / toward Hongqiao Railway ~23:06. ~24-min walk to the 4K Zone at Dongjiadu Ferry — Xiaonanmen (Line 9) is much closer at ~9 min.
Confirm via the Shanghai Metro (Metro 大都会) app on race day; tickets stop selling 3 minutes before the last train arrives.
Didi backup: search 689 Jumen Rd to get the finish-area pickup. Taxis are plentiful around the Bund. However the closed segments (Waima Rd, Bansongyuan Rd) are impassable to vehicles — walk out of the closure area before hailing.
Safety: This is a women-only night event. Stay on well-lit streets, move in groups when possible, and confirm the post-race meetup point before the start. If your runner finishes near the 22:30 cutoff and lingers at the afterparty, a rideshare is safer than racing the last train.
The questions.
What time does Nike After Dark Tour Shanghai start and end?
Saturday 2026-04-25 — gun time 21:00 at Nanjing East Rd / the Bund, cutoff 22:30 (a 90-minute window = 9:00/km). Bag check opens about 1 hour before the start. Road closures begin at 19:00 and release in stages until 22:30; spectators should aim to reach the core area by 20:30.
Where should I cheer from?
The two best positions are the 4K Official Cheering Zone (Dongjiadu Ferry promenade on the South Bund, 9-min walk from Xiaonanmen Line 9) and the finish line at 689 Jumen Rd (8-min walk from Xizang South metro). 4K catches her at peak energy; the finish is the emotional peak and best-photo moment. Pick one, pick the finish. 9K (Miaojiang Rd 801) is the backup — highest cheer impact but harder transit.
How long will my runner take to finish 10K?
Depends on pace. At 5:30/km ≈ 55 min (finish 21:55), the typical recreational woman's pace. 6:00/km ≈ 60 min (22:00). 7:00/km ≈ 70 min (22:10). 8:00/km ≈ 80 min (22:20). The 22:30 cutoff is a 90-minute window — that's 9:00/km exactly; aim for 8:30/km or better to bank buffer. The pace × arrival table above gives her time at every checkpoint.
Registration is closed — can I still spectate?
Yes — along the course, freely. The route, the sidewalks flanking the Nike cheering stations at 4K / 9K / finish, and the exterior of 689 Jumen Rd are public spaces — stand on the Bund, cheer, take photos, no bib needed. What is gated: Nike builds three branded cheering-station enclosures (4K / 9K / finish) with limited capacity and runs a finish-line afterparty — entry into those enclosures and the afterparty requires a separate WeChat mini-program reservation (capacity 50 / 141 / 80, window Thu 04/23 10:00 — Sat 04/25 16:00, Chinese domestic users only). Without the reservation you can still cheer on the sidewalk right next to the enclosure; you just can't collect Nike swag or enter the afterparty. Aid-station water and food are always reserved for registered runners. International visitors from Singapore, HK, Japan etc who can't reserve typically cheer just outside the 4K enclosure on the south Bund.
Will I make the last metro?
Race night is a Saturday — Shanghai Metro lines 1/7/8/9/10/13 run weekend-extended schedules, so last trains are about 30 minutes later than weekdays and most spectators have ample margin. A 5:30/km runner finishes ~21:55; add a 30-min afterparty + 8-min walk to Xizang South ≈ 22:33. From there, Line 4 departs toward Yishan Rd around 23:17 / toward Shanghai Railway around 22:48, and Line 8 departs around 23:02 — every option leaves 15+ minutes of buffer. Dapuqiao (Line 9) runs 23:12-23:33 depending on direction; Laoximen is Line 8 ~23:02 / Line 10 22:59-23:14. If your runner brushes the 22:30 cutoff and the afterparty drags on, just rideshare ("689 Jumen Rd" in Didi). Always verify via the Shanghai Metro app on race day.
Do the closures block my walking route?
No. The Bund area is closed to vehicles 19:00–22:30, but pedestrians are not restricted. You can walk across any closed segment. You only need to detour if cycling or taking a cab — avoid Waima Rd, Bansongyuan Rd, Miaojiang Rd. Metro + walking is the safest mix.
What should I bring for the runner?
Nike stocks water and medical at 4K and 9K, so race-day supplies usually aren't needed. Worth carrying: one backup gel, a light jacket (she'll cool fast post-race), a warm-water bottle, wet wipes, a small trash bag. The afterparty venue serves food. Agree on a post-finish landmark before the start so you don't lose each other in the crowd.
Any safety tips for a women's night event?
The Bund at night is crowded and relatively safe, but as a rule: stay with someone (don't wait alone at quiet checkpoints), pre-agree a landmark to meet, keep your phone charged (carry a power bank), wear bright clothing so your runner spots you, and walk together to the metro or taxi after the afterparty. If she finishes past 22:30, rideshare home rather than walking to a metro station.
Will the race be canceled if it rains?
Light to moderate rain rarely triggers cancellation — Nike After Dark Tour only adjusts for extreme conditions (typhoon, thunderstorms, air quality). Possible responses: delayed start, shortened course, or canceled afterparty. Check Nike's official WeChat Mini Program ("耐克女子夜跑上海站") 2 hours before the start. If canceled, the organizer issues refund or reschedule guidance via the official channel.
For international visitors
Coming from outside Shanghai? Three notes:
- Payments: WeChat Pay and Alipay work everywhere; international cards work at airport metro card kiosks and the afterparty venue but not on most street taxis.
- Connectivity: pick up an eSIM before you land — China Mobile, China Unicom, or Airalo. VPN is optional; for the night itself you'll just need maps + messaging.
- Getting to the start: Line 2 runs from Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA) airports directly to Nanjing East Rd. Allow 60-90 min from airport, and don't cut it close — the pre-race metro fills up fast.
