What to Prepare: Mid-April mornings in Ashford start cool (about 13°C / 55°F high, ~6°C at the 09:00 start) with a steady ~20 km/h breeze and roughly a 1-in-5 chance of a wet day. Pack a throwaway layer for the start and expect open, exposed country lanes with little shade or shelter.

Wind at 24.3 km/h can affect your marathon pace by 5-15 seconds per kilometer. Headwinds slow you down exponentially — a 20 km/h wind costs more than twice a 10 km/h wind.

| Profile | An honestly undulating rural road marathon, not a flat PB course: two laps of quiet country lanes north of Ashford through the villages of Charing and Westwell, plus a short stretch of the historic Pilgrims Way, totalling roughly +440 m of climbing with a few short sharp pulls and a downhill final 1.5 km. UKA-licensed and accurately measured (about 42,164 m), so it is Boston-eligible, but train on hills and pace conservatively. |

Use Calculator →Entry is open / first-come through organiser Nice Work, not a ballot or lottery, so you sign up directly online while places last rather than waiting for a draw. The full marathon is priced at GBP 45 (on-the-day pricing; entering early online is usually cheaper). It is a small event, with around 178 marathon finishers in 2025, so there is no realistic risk of selling out months ahead.
It is genuinely undulating, not flat. The two-lap course rolls through the country lanes north of Ashford with roughly +440 m of total climbing (sources range 415-445 m) and a couple of short, sharp inclines, before a welcome downhill final 1.5 km. Treat it as a strong-effort scenic marathon rather than a flat personal-best track, and build hill work into your training.
Race HQ and the start are at Sandyacres Sports Club, Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford, TN25 4PE, with the gun at 09:00 and registration from 07:30. The nearest station is Charing, about half a mile (a short walk) from Race HQ and the organiser's recommended rail option; the larger Ashford International station is roughly two miles away. There is no parking at Sandyacres itself — use the free car park on Upper Pemberton Road (TN25 4AZ), about a 10-minute walk away.
There is a 6-hour cut-off, which works out to about a 13:45 per mile (8:32 per km) average pace including any stops. That is comfortable for most runners on a rural course, but on undulating terrain leave yourself margin on the climbs — it is not a generous limit if you plan to walk significant sections.
Yes in principle: the course is UKA-licensed and accurately measured (about 42,164 m), which is what the Boston Athletic Association requires of a qualifying course, so a time run here counts. You do not need a qualifying time to enter — entry is open to all. Bear in mind the undulating profile makes a Boston-qualifying time harder to hit here than on a flat course.
It is a two-lap loop on quiet, wide rural lanes winding north of Ashford through the pretty Kent villages of Charing and Westwell, including a short section of the ancient Pilgrims Way beneath the North Downs. Expect open countryside, light field-side scenery and minimal crowds rather than a city-centre atmosphere — the appeal is the calm rolling Kent landscape, not noise and spectators.
The race is chip-timed and results are posted online by the timing provider (Sporthive / Speedhive) on race day, usually within a few hours of finishing. Because the half marathon is a single lap on the same loop, double-check you are reading the full-marathon results table — the half is the larger field of the two events.
