| Typical Conditions | A cool, dry early-September prairie morning, typically 5-12C (41-54F) at the 7:30am start and climbing toward the high teens by midday under big Saskatchewan skies, with a brisk open-plain wind off Wascana Lake. |
What to Prepare: Near-perfect racing weather, but the prairie wind is the variable. Wear arm sleeves and a throwaway top for the start, and check the forecast wind direction the night before so you know which exposed stretches will sting.

Wind at 25 km/h can affect your marathon pace by 5-15 seconds per kilometer. Headwinds slow you down exponentially — a 20 km/h wind costs more than twice a 10 km/h wind.

Use Calculator →The GMS Queen City Marathon full 42.2K runs on Sunday, Sep 13, 2026, with a 7:30am gun from the Conexus Arts Centre on the shore of Wascana Lake. It is the centrepiece of a three-day festival weekend (Sep 11-13) that also includes a half marathon, 10K, 5K, a kids' Mini Marathon and a Friday-night 5K.
Yes. The full marathon runs an Athletics Canada certified course, so a finishing time counts toward Boston qualifying and other World Marathon Major standards. Check your standard with the Boston qualifying calculator, then use the pace calculator to lock in even splits on this flat course.
It is one of the flattest certified marathons in Canada, with only about +57m of total climb as it loops around Wascana Lake, through the Wascana Centre parkland and Regina's older neighbourhoods. With no real hills to manage, it rewards a steady, even effort. Try the race time predictor to set a realistic PR target.
The marathon course is open for 6 hours, closing at 1:30pm, which works out to roughly 8:32 per kilometre (about 13:44 per mile). That gives walk-run finishers a comfortable margin. Plug your goal into the finish-time calculator to confirm you stay inside the cutoff.
Entry is online through Race Roster with no lottery. The full marathon uses tiered, block-based pricing that climbs as each block fills, recently running from about C$110 early up to roughly C$165 closer to race day, so registering early saves the most. Prices shown do not include Race Roster fees or taxes.
Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan, a compact prairie city built around Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in Canada. The Queen City Marathon is the province's largest race weekend, and while the full marathon field is intimate (around 300 finishers), that is part of its appeal: an uncrowded, PR-friendly course with a relaxed, community feel rather than big-city congestion.
It depends on your passport. Visa-exempt travellers (most of Europe, Japan, Australia) need only an electronic eTA, applied for online before flying. Travellers from countries that require a visa must obtain a Canadian visitor visa in advance. Regina International Airport (YQR) usually connects via Calgary or Toronto, so build in extra travel time and check requirements early.
