Wind at 19.1 km/h can affect your marathon pace by 5-15 seconds per kilometer. Headwinds slow you down exponentially — a 20 km/h wind costs more than twice a 10 km/h wind.

Use Calculator →The Cracovia Marathon is projected for Sunday, April 18, 2027, with a 9:00 a.m. start from the Main Market Square. The race traditionally falls in mid-April (2025 was April 6, 2026 was April 19), but the organizer had not posted the official 2027 date at the time of writing, so confirm on cracoviamaraton.pl before booking travel.
Entry is first-come, open online registration at cracoviamaraton.pl — not a lottery. Sign-ups stay open until about April 10 or until the 9,000-participant cap fills, whichever comes first. The 2026 edition set a record with 6,669 marathon finishers from 6,883 starters, so the field is large but not sold-out instantly. Registration is in Polish and English, making it straightforward for international runners.
The full marathon starts at 190 PLN (roughly 45 euros) for the early window, then rises through tiers to about 230, 270 and up to 300 PLN closer to race day or at the race office. Registering early is the cheapest option. The fee covers chip timing, the finisher medal, and aid stations along the course.
Yes — it is a flat, fast single loop with only about 50m of total elevation gain. The route starts and finishes on the Main Market Square, winds through the Old Town, passes Wawel Royal Castle and crosses the Vistula River with no significant climbs, which makes it a strong choice for a personal best. Note that some Old Town sections are cobblestone, so choose footwear accordingly.
The official cutoff is 6 hours from your start, with an intermediate 3-hour limit at the halfway point. Finishing in 6 hours requires roughly an 8:32 per kilometer (about 13:44 per mile) average pace. Runners well behind the cutoff at a checkpoint may be removed from the course.
Yes. The course is certified by World Athletics, AIMS and the Polish Athletics Association (PZLA), so finish times are record-eligible and valid for a Boston Marathon qualifier (BQ). Combined with the flat profile, it is a realistic BQ-attempt race. Check your target with the Boston qualifying calculator.
Mid-April mornings are cool, often 10 to 14°C, warming as the day goes on. A singlet or short-sleeve with arm sleeves usually works once you are moving; bring a throwaway layer for the corral. Rain is possible on about 1 in 3 April days, so a light packable shell is sensible. Cobblestone stretches in the Old Town favor a cushioned, stable shoe.
Both the start and finish are on the Main Market Square (Rynek Glowny) in Kraków's UNESCO-listed Old Town — the same spot since 2014. Finishing in one of Europe's largest medieval squares, ringed by the Cloth Hall and St. Mary's Basilica, is the signature experience of this race.
