| Humidity | 84% |
| Peak Wind | 16.8 km/h |
| Rain Chance | 51% |
| Typical Conditions | Mild, damp Atlantic autumn. Race-morning averages near 13°C (55°F) with about 81% humidity, coastal wind around 12 km/h, and a roughly 43% daily chance of rain. |
What to Prepare: Pack a lightweight rain shell and a cap. November in Porto is one of its wetter months (about 13 rainy days), so plan for a damp start and wind off the Atlantic at Foz do Douro.

Winds peaking around 16.8 km/h — the typical daily maximum for this date — can affect your pace by 5-15 seconds per kilometer in exposed stretches. Headwinds slow you down exponentially: a 20 km/h wind costs more than twice a 10 km/h wind.

| Elevation Gain | 50m |
| Terrain | Paved city roads, seafront and riverside avenues, run as two out-and-backs sharing one start and finish area rather than a loop. Starts beside SEA LIFE Porto (Via Castelo do Queijo, at the northwest edge of the city next to Parque da Cidade), heads north through Matosinhos and comes back past the start at 20km, then runs south to Foz do Douro and east along the north bank of the Douro to a turnaround just past the 30km aid station, finishing at the Queimódromo in the same Parque da Cidade. |
| Profile | Flat and fast. On the official 2026 elevation profile the course peaks at roughly 30m, inside the opening 5km, and never comes near that again. The route runs along the Douro bank and crosses none of its bridges, so there is no bridge climb anywhere. |

Administrative costs are added on top at checkout, and places are capped.
Yes. The EDP Porto Marathon is on the World Athletics Label road race list for 2026 and is a full member of AIMS, so the course is certified and a time here counts toward Boston Marathon entry. You still need to hit your age-group standard, but the course is record-eligible.
Flat, and flatter than most people expect. On the official 2026 elevation profile the high point is roughly 30m, inside the opening 5km, and the line never returns to it. The route runs beside the Douro, not over its bridges, so there is no bridge climb to break your rhythm; the rest hugs the seafront and riverside avenues, which makes it a strong choice for a personal best.
It is two out-and-backs sharing one start and finish area, not a loop. It starts beside SEA LIFE Porto (Via Castelo do Queijo, next to Parque da Cidade), heads north through Matosinhos and comes back past the start at 20km, then runs south to Foz do Douro and east along the north bank of the Douro to a turnaround just past the 30km aid station, finishing at the Queimódromo inside the same Parque da Cidade. Start and finish sit right next to each other in the park.
The rules set a 6-hour maximum. With an 8:00 a.m. start, the official passing-point table puts the last runner through 40km at 13:42 and across the line at 14:00. Timing is not cut there in practice: the 2025 official results still list 41 finishers slower than six hours, the last at 6:33:16. The companion 10k and 6k each have a 2-hour limit.
Dress for a mild, damp autumn: around 13°C (55°F) at the start with high humidity and a real chance of rain. A singlet or short sleeves plus a packable rain shell and cap works well. Carry throwaway gloves for the early miles and expect a breeze off the Atlantic along the Foz coastline.
The 2025 edition (the 21st) classified 4,672 marathon finishers, part of the roughly 15,000 runners the organiser counts across the marathon, 10k, and 6k. Chip-timed results post on the official site shortly after the race, searchable by name, bib number, nationality, or age group.
Fly into Porto (OPO) airport, about 20 minutes by metro or taxi from the city. The race site and full rules are available in English and online registration is straightforward for overseas runners. The start beside SEA LIFE Porto sits at the northwest edge of the city, reachable by bus, taxi, or a short walk from coastal hotels.
