Johannesburg Expo Centre

NOV 2026 26–29

Searching for HYROX Johannesburg 2027? As of September 7, 2026, the official HYROX race finder carries no 2027 Johannesburg date, although its calendar already runs to June 2027, and the one South African race it does list for 2027 is Cape Town, March 26 to 28. The race you can enter now is the Season 26/27 edition, Nov 26–29, 2026 at Johannesburg Expo Centre on Nasrec Road. Two things catch people out. The official schedule covers four days, but on September 7 nothing for Thursday was on sale, athlete or spectator, and all six relay entries were off sale as well. And in the single-sex Open races a World Championship slot is on offer only to the 60+ age groups.

Provisional schedule — subject to change by the organiser.

HYROX links each athlete's individual start time about three days before the event and states that start-time changes are not permitted, so plan around this provisional table until then.

The last start window opens at 17:20 on Thursday, 20:30 on Friday for the women's relay, 19:20 on Saturday for Pro Doubles Men and 15:50 on Sunday for Doubles Mixed. Thursday, Friday and Saturday all run to about 20:30 or 20:35; Sunday finishes at 19:30.

On-site registration opens 90 minutes before the first start wave of your division. To enter the hall before your official check-in window, go via the Spectators Desk and show your ticket and ID. During race weekend you can only check in on the day you compete, you must bring ID, and checking in on behalf of others is not allowed. Two notes on this table: the Adaptive divisions are not in the official start-time list, so their race days come from the day label on each official ticket; and the Virgin Active Relay is printed with a single start time of 19:45 rather than a window.

Getting there

Venue addressJohannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec Road, Corner Rand Show Road, Johannesburg, 2091, South Africa
Public transportNeither HYROX nor the venue publishes public-transport directions for this site. The venue quotes more than 20,000 parking bays across a 50 hectare, 150 000 square metre site at the corner of Nasrec and Rand Show Roads.
The venue puts itself 30 minutes from all major airports; it publishes no distance or transfer detail beyond that.

Watching, not racing?

Spectator tickets in Johannesburg are 175 ZAR (as of Sep 7, 2026). Child and companion rules vary by event — confirm the official ticket terms before you travel. The official ticket text reads: for ages 12 and over, children under 12 go free but require a ticket, and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult spectator ticket holder.

Road to Worlds

Johannesburg carries qualifying places for the 2027 HYROX World Championships — AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong, June 10–13, 2027. The rule depends on your division: Pro divisions qualify every age group except 60+, Doubles Mixed qualifies every age group, and the Open divisions qualify only the 60+ age groups (official ticket terms). Qualifying runs through the May 16, 2027, race weekend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a HYROX Johannesburg 2027?
Not on the official calendar as of September 7, 2026. HYROX lists one Johannesburg race, Nov 26–29, 2026 at Johannesburg Expo Centre, and its race finder carries no 2027 Johannesburg entry even though that calendar already reaches June 13, 2027. The only South African race on it for 2027 is Cape Town, March 26 to 28, and that one still sits behind a Find out more button rather than ticket sales. The weekly ticket digest on this page flags races across every HYROX city as they go on sale, so a Johannesburg 2027 release would reach you there.
Which day and time does my division race at HYROX Johannesburg?
The schedule table above pairs every division with its start window across the four days. Four things worth pulling out of it. Solo Pro races on Friday only, women in a 30 minute window from 09:50 and men from 11:00. Pro Doubles races on Saturday only, from 18:30. Every relay start is packed into Friday evening between 18:40 and 20:35, the three Corporate relays and the Virgin Active Relay included. And the Adaptive divisions are not in the official start-time list at all, so their race days here come from the day printed on each official ticket. HYROX links your individual start time about three days before the event and does not permit start-time changes.
How much does HYROX Johannesburg cost, and which divisions can I still enter?
Solo, Solo Pro and Adaptive entries are 1,500 ZAR per person, a doubles place costs less and a relay place less again, with every division and the spectator price in the fee table above. The doubles and relay listings say the price is per person plus a service fee, and HYROX does not publish that amount anywhere in the shop. What a price list cannot tell you is what is still open. As of September 7, 2026, the whole of Thursday was off sale in the official South African shop, athlete and spectator tickets alike, and so were all six relay entries: the three HYROX relays on Friday and the three Corporate Challenge relays. That leaves Friday with nine divisions on sale, Saturday with five and Sunday with four, and the shop closes sales on November 29, 2026.
Can I qualify for the World Championships at HYROX Johannesburg?
You can, but the entry you buy decides it, and the official ticket text splits four ways. HYROX Men, HYROX Women and the same-sex Doubles carry World Championship qualification only for the 60+ age categories. Pro and Pro Doubles carry it for all age categories except 60+. Doubles Mixed carries it for all age categories. So if you are under 60 and want a Worlds slot out of this race, the entries that offer one are Pro, Pro Doubles or Doubles Mixed. The Adaptive and relay listings carry no qualification line at all.
Do spectators need a ticket at HYROX Johannesburg, and do children pay?
A spectator ticket is 175 ZAR and covers one person for one day, so a two-day visit means two tickets. The official ticket text reads: for ages 12 and over, children under 12 go free but require a ticket, and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult spectator ticket holder. That free under-12 ticket is its own line in the shop and has to be added for the day you attend. Two things to plan around. On September 7, 2026, the Thursday spectator tickets, free child ticket included, were off sale along with the rest of that day. And spectator tickets cannot take a Flex Add-On, so they carry no refund and no name change.
How do I get to the Johannesburg Expo Centre, and what happens at check-in?
The venue is on Nasrec Road at the corner of Rand Show Road, postcode 2091. Neither HYROX nor the venue publishes public-transport directions for it; what the venue does quote is more than 20,000 parking bays across a 50 hectare site, and it puts itself 30 minutes from all major airports. On-site registration opens 90 minutes before the first start wave of your division. You must bring ID, you cannot check in on behalf of anyone else, and during race weekend you can only check in on the day you compete. To get into the hall before your own check-in window, go via the Spectators Desk with your ticket and ID. Early athlete registration dates, times and location were all still listed as TBC on September 7, 2026.
Can I get a refund or change the name on a HYROX Johannesburg ticket?
Only if you add a Flex option at checkout, because HYROX states it cannot be added later. The Flex Add-On, offered with singles, doubles and relay tickets, gives a full refund until 31 days before the event and half back until 7 days before, both excluding the Flex and service fees, plus one name change per ticket. Flex Lite, which also covers charity tickets, gives the name change alone and no refund. Every deadline falls at 07:59 South Africa Standard Time on the cut-off day, and the name change closes one day before the event. Without a Flex option there are no changes or refunds after purchase, and HYROX states there are no event transfers and no division changes for 2025/26, a label the official page has not updated from last season; the rule itself is the one printed on this race's page.
