What to Prepare: Mid-October in the Annapolis Valley is cool and ideal for racing: highs near 15°C (59°F) but a chilly start around 6°C (42°F) at the 7:30 AM gun. Wear arm sleeves or a throwaway top you can shed; a 29% wet-day chance means a packable shell is smart.

Wind at 12.3 km/h can affect your marathon pace by 5-15 seconds per kilometer. Headwinds slow you down exponentially — a 20 km/h wind costs more than twice a 10 km/h wind.

Yes. The course is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier and an Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifier, so a qualifying time here counts for both Boston and the Abbott Wanda program. It is genuinely PR-friendly: roughly 5.6% of finishers ran a BQ in 2024, and findmymarathon ranks it the #1 marathon in Nova Scotia for setting a PR.
It is a rural road route through the Annapolis Valley, past apple orchards, horse farms and pastoral farmland, finishing with a lap on the Acadia University stadium track in Wolfville. The terrain is mostly flat with a few short rolling hills — total climbing is about +258 m (849 ft) — on paved roads the whole way.
It is a moderately easy, fast course. The gentle +258 m of rolling terrain is manageable for most runners, and the cool mid-October weather helps — findmymarathon gives it a Course Score of 98.06, among the highest in Nova Scotia. The small field of around 200 means open roads and a relaxed, community feel rather than crowds.
Dress for a cool autumn morning: the 7:30 AM start is often around 6°C (42°F), warming to the mid-teens Celsius (high near 15°C / 59°F) by midday. Arm sleeves, light gloves and a throwaway layer for the start work well, and with a roughly 29% chance of a wet day a packable rain shell is worth carrying.
The official limit is 6 hours — the course closes at 1:30 PM after the 7:30 AM start. Slower runners can request an unsupported 6:30 AM early start, but course marshals and water stations are not yet in place for it, so you must know the route and carry a headlamp. Plan to maintain roughly a 13:45/mile (8:30/km) pace to finish within the cutoff.
The full marathon runs Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 7:30 AM in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, starting and finishing at the Acadia Athletics Complex. All competitive distances run that same Sunday — the ultra and full at 7:30 AM, the half at 7:45 AM, the 10K at 8:00 AM and the 5K from about 8:15 AM. Only the children's Youth Run is held the day before, on Saturday October 10.
